The Department of Journalism and Media Studies at Jahangirnagar University in Bangladesh, in collaboration with the Management and Resources Development Initiative (MRDI), is proud to announce the upcoming National Conference 2023: Journalism, Media & Communication. The conference is scheduled to take place on October 3-4, 2023, at the Department of Journalism and Media Studies on the Jahangirnagar University campus.
The conference aims to bring together researchers, academics, students, practitioners, and policymakers to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the country’s news industry and explore ways to promote ethical and responsible journalism, media, and communication practices.
Bangladesh is a country with a rich history of media and journalism dating back to the pre-independence era. However, the industry has undergone significant changes in recent years, driven by technological advancements and evolving media consumption patterns. As such, it is important to critically examine the country’s current state of journalism and media practices.
The conference will provide a platform for scholars, journalists, development activists, and media practitioners to share their research and experiences on a wide range of topics related to journalism, media, and communication in Bangladesh.
We are pleased to announce that the conference will result in an academic output: a special issue of the Journal of Journalism and Media, a peer-reviewed academic journal. This special issue will feature a selection of research articles based on presentations given at the conference.
